 Questions:

1.      What is the differentiate between sociolinguistics and the sociology?

2.      ‘English is a better language than French.’ Italian is a more musical language than German.’ ‘there’s no way you could ever  hope to discuss nuclear physics in Basque.’ Sociolinguistics has nothing to offer in a discussion of statements of this kind, they are really quite meaningless. Do you agree or disagree? What are your reasons?

3.      What is the definition of sociolinguistic by Gumperz (1971: 223) ?

4.      What are the  relationship between language and society?

5.      One such attempt(Bell, 1976: 147-157) has listed seven criteria that maybe useful in discussing different kinds of language. What are they? Explain it?
